The Rabelo boats were used for transportation of port wine until tanker trucks took over their job. The riverside of Vila Nova de Gaia houses a lot of traditional port wine boats with sail and barrels. The part of the Douro Valley called Vinhateiro is classified as a World Heritage Site.
